Fats, Oils, and Greases (FOG) are not healthy for your sink.  It can build up in pipes and equipments and cause problems in sewer system and wastewater treatment plants.  FOG can be found in meat fats, sauces, cooking oil, butter/margin, dairy products, etc. FOG can build-up your sewer lines because of the things that are poured down the kitchen sink. Keeping FOG out of your sewer lines can help the problem. Pouring grease, fats, and oil  in jars, plastic tubs, and cans are methods of properly handling the disposal of FOG. Make sure the contents are cool and solidify.  Source: City of Boise
