As the temperatures drop, so do the leaves. Time to "Recycle the Fall."
When you rake leaves this fall, think about turning them into valuable organic materials like compost instead of trash. Recycle the Fall is a citywide, curbside collection program that runs from October 29 through November 30. Leaves, grass clippings, flowers, and other garden wastes can all become organic materials instead of trash. When you participate in Recycle the Fall, you help divert hundreds of garbage truckloads from the landfill.
Participation is easy and the Boise Public Works Department makes it a bargain when you use the postcard coupon sent to every Boise City household. Redeem the coupon at a participating retailer for a discount of $2.00 on every package of five paper leaf bags. You can purchase up to five packages with the coupon and save up to $10.
To help residents with leaf collection, The Boise Public Works Department has developed a few guidelines for the program. These guid...

What is May in Motion?
May in Motion Exploring Transportation Alternatives is a month long promotion designed to inform Treasure Valley residents about transportation-related issues, and encourage their participation in transportation alternatives through a variety of exciting events and activities.
May in Motion is an annual event organized by Ada County Highway District Commuteride and Valley Regional Transit and supported by public and private sector interests concerned about the long-term vitality of the Treasure Valley.
Why May in Motion?
Traffic congestion and poor air quality are critical issues affecting the lives of all Treasure Valley residents. Failure to resolve these issues is taxing the local economy and jeopardizing the lifestyle that has contributed to area growth. Resolution is impossible without public consensus. Today, February 20, IHOP is offering "free" pancakes until 10:00 PM for a donation. The proceeds will be given to St. Luke's Children's Hospital. The tradition is that the English would consume their milk, eggs, and butter before the 40 day fasting period and the initiation of Lent. This is the second year that IHOP and St. Luke's have collaborated in the effort of helping children's medical services nationally. Stop by one of the three locations in the Boise area to support a great cause and celebrate Mardi Gras: Federal Way near Fred Meyer, Fairview near Wal-Mart in Meridian, and on Emerald by the Boise Towne Square Mall.

Now you can take part a bigger part in contributing more to your recycle bins or begin the new year by recycling your products. Now you can recycle plastics numbered 1-7 whether the City of Boise or Allied/BFI in Ada County service you. For example yogurt and butter container, most plastic bottles and cups, and more can be recycled. Items that are not accepted are Styrofoam, plastic bags, and cling wraps. Last year almost 12,000 tons of material were recycled. For more information call City of Boise Public Works at 384-3901.City of Boise Article
