Programs Promoting Safety & Partnerships Downtown are Working!  Boise, July 25, 2007 - Boise Police Chief Michael Masterson was joined by Boise Mayor David Bieter and the Executive Director of the Downtown Boise Association Karen Sander, in announcing a continued decline in downtown crime, a promising trend that shows safety means success.       "These statistics mean fewer people are falling victim to crime," said Chief Masterson. "They also show when we work together with the common goal of safeguarding the heart of our community, it works, and all of us, business owners, residents, customers and visitors all benefit."     At a time when more people than ever are coming to Downtown Boise for entertainment (according to CCDC parking figures), crime is decreasing.     Notably, an examination by Boise Police of the possible displacement impact of crime to adjoining...

Concern Over Softening Housing Market Helped Bring Rate Drop McLean, VA Freddie Mac (NYSE:FRE) today released the results of its Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS) in which the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 6.69 percent with an average 0.4 point for the week ending July 26, 2007, down from last week when it averaged 6.73. Last year at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 6.72 percent. The 15-year FRM this week averaged 6.37 percent with an average 0.4 point, down slightly from last week when it averaged 6.38 percent. A year ago, the 15-year FRM averaged 6.34 percent. Five-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable-rate mortgages (ARMs) averaged 6.30 percent this week, with an average 0.4 point, down from last week when it averaged 6.35 percent. The Boise Firefighter's Burn Out Fund will be the featured non-profit organization at Music on the Lake. Fire Captain, Dennis Cleary will play with The McCleary Band on Friday, July 27th. The Boise Blues Society will host the event at The Waterfront at Lake Harbor, 3050 N. Lake Harbor Lane from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Half of the proceeds will be donated to the Boise Burn Out Fund to assist families who are victim of fire catastrophes. To learn more about the Boise Burn Out Fund, click here. The cost of admission is $3.00 per person or $5.00 per family. There will be food vendors and a full bar available. Boise is one of just 11 communities in the United States to earn the prestigious honor this year The West Boise Wastewater Treatment Plant has earned a Platinum Peak Performance Award, one of the highest honors in the wastewater field. Platinum Awards are given annually by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA). The award is the wastewater equivalent of winning an Emmy. Boise is one of just 11 communities within the United States to receive the Platinum award this year. Communities earn a gold award if they go a full year with no violations of the Clean Water Act. A platinum award is given when a wastewater facility is awarded five straight gold awards. Violations may include high levels of solid matter or bacteria when the cleaned/treated water is released into the Boise River.
