On March 1st the Meridian Water Department will begin its annual Water Flushing Program.  It is expected to take four weeks.  The Flush Program cleans natural sediments that are not a human health threat, but can clog water lines if not removed. There may be a temporary change in your tap water from clear to a red, brown, or black color.  If this occurs simply run cold-water faucets in bathtubs at full stream for a few minutes until the water is clean.  Before you open any hot-water taps it is important to clear the cold-waterline. Also, check clothes washer and ice makers for sediments. If plugging occurs remove screens from faucets and rinse,.  Temporary pressure may also occur. For more information call the Meridian Water Department, 208-888-5242. Today, February 20, IHOP is offering "free" pancakes until 10:00 PM for a donation. The proceeds will be given to St. Luke's Children's Hospital.  The tradition is that the English would consume their milk, eggs, and butter before the 40 day fasting period and the initiation of Lent. This is the second year that IHOP and St. Luke's have collaborated in the effort of helping children's medical services nationally. Stop by one of the three locations in the Boise area to support a great cause and celebrate Mardi Gras: Federal Way near Fred Meyer, Fairview near Wal-Mart in Meridian, and on Emerald by the Boise Towne Square Mall.
