"Thirty year fixed-rate mortgages declined this week to an average of 6.22 percent, down from 6.30 percent last week and 6.26 percent a year earlier" quoted from Realtor Magazine Online based on Freddie Mac reports. For the end of this week a 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5.97 percent. Last week it was 6.03 and a year ago it was 5.97 percent. 5 and 1-year ARMs also dropped. Next week reports will indicate the strength of the housing industry and how it's affecting the economy.
