The Idaho Foodbank is proud to announce that the Food Network's Chef Tyler Florence will be the featured guest at the 10th Annual A Chef's Affaire fundraiser. In addition to his active participation in the A Chef's Affaire dinner and auction, Chef Tyler Florence will give a cooking demonstration prior to dinner, presented by the Idaho and Eastern Oregon Onion Committee. Tickets are $50 and seating is limited.
As always, A Chef's Affaire promises to be an evening to remember as 20 of the Treasure Valley's most talented chefs prepare a five-course gourmet meal and diners can choose from a wide assortment of Idaho's finest wines.
The silent auction will feature a wide array of dining packages, merchandise and services from the area's restaurants, caterers, wineries, hotels and retailers. Better yet, the participating chefs will be auctioned to the highest bidder...

Planning & Development Services is hosting a Homeowner Permit Night to answer questions about home improvement projects, building and zoning issues, and issue trade permits (building, electrical and plumbing).
We'll be open extended hours. On May 6, our permit center will be open until 8:00 p.m.

The Boise City Arts Commission (BCAC) invites professional and student performing artists and groups to submit an application to Performing Arts and the Market to perform various Saturdays at Capital City Public Market in downtown Boise.
Project Dates/Times: Saturdays from April 19 to October 25, 2008. 9:30 am call, 10:00 am start, 1:00 pm wrap
Compensation: Artists are paid for performances and may accept tips and distribute promotional materials.
Application Deadline: March 3, 2008 by 5:00 pm
How to get an application: Download the application online at cityofboise.org/arts, call BCAC at 433-5675 we'll happily fax, email or mail one, or pick up an application at our offices.

The Idaho Department of Commerce announced today that it will conduct a seminar Tuesday, March 4, that will focus on business opportunities in Japan.
The seminar will be at the Courtyard Marriott Boise Downtown, 220 S. Broadway Ave., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost will be $30 per person prior to Feb. 26 and includes a boxed lunch.
Featured speakers for the luncheon seminar include the following:
-- Akemi Harima, Idaho-Japan Trade Office representative, discussing Japan distribution channels and approaches to market entry;
-- Yuji Muranaga, chief executive director, San Francisco Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) speaking on diverse opportunities in the Japanese market;
-- Susan Thayer, senior vice president of National Sales for Episciences Inc., who will share her experience working with a Japanese distributor and offering tips for success;
-- Consul General Akio Egawa, consulate-general of Japan in Portland delivering an overview of U.S.-Japan economic relations.
