On March 1st the Meridian Water Department will begin its annual Water Flushing Program.  It is expected to take four weeks.  The Flush Program cleans natural sediments that are not a human health threat, but can clog water lines if not removed. There may be a temporary change in your tap water from clear to a red, brown, or black color.  If this occurs simply run cold-water faucets in bathtubs at full stream for a few minutes until the water is clean. 

Before you open any hot-water taps it is important to clear the cold-waterline. Also, check clothes washer and ice makers for sediments. If plugging occurs remove screens from faucets and rinse,.  Temporary pressure may also occur.
